The short version

What visitors say about Central Coast Casino

Central Coast Casino in Grover Beach is a four table poker room, and usually two of them are running. Travelers on the coast route stop in and find mostly locals at $1/$3 no limit hold'em, with daily tournaments. The dealers win a lot of affection: players mention a warm welcome at the door and staff who still know their names after months away.

Food has long been part of the arrangement. Players get plates from the barbecue place next door, sometimes free and sometimes for a small charge, sodas are on the house, and beer and snacks are now sold. Expect a wait for a seat on slow nights, when games can also break up well before the 2 a.m. close. Critics call the building old and worn. It's closed Sundays, going by its listing, and a recent visitor couldn't reach anyone by phone, so check before driving over.

Great people and service. Staff is very friendly. Can be a wait to get a seat but usually pretty fast but not always. Now have beer and snacks available and sometimes hot food. Best place to play cards on the central coast.

My first time here, passing thru from the bay area to SoCal.

Small 4 table card room. Dealers are very friendly, I was greeted warmly as I walked in the door. I was in a 1-3 NLH game right away. Good mix of regulars and tourists and all the dealers really kept the games moving.

Amazing little card room! We played 1/3 no-limit Texas hold 'em, and they had various larger Omaha games running, too. There were also free, huge portions of tri-tip and pasta for dinner. Super friendly players and dealers; it was our first time there and it felt like we were playing in a home game with old friends. :)
