Casinos in Atlantic City

Atlantic City is the only place in New Jersey where casinos are allowed, and the gambling age is 21. Most of the big hotels face the ocean along the Boardwalk, from Ocean and Hard Rock at the north end to Caesars, Bally's and the Tropicana farther south, so the beach is part of the deal. Borgata, Harrah's and the Golden Nugget sit apart in the marina area, a short drive away, and suit people who would rather stay put in one resort than walk between casinos.

All 9 venues in Atlantic City, ranked

How the ranking works. Venues are ordered by their Google rating, weighted by how many people left one: every rating is blended with a neutral 4.0 as if the venue had 200 more reviews at 4.0, so a 4.6 from thousands of reviews ranks above a 5.0 from a dozen. Sponsorship has no effect on the order. Ratings last checked October 2026.

Gaming in Atlantic City

Guest reviews across town share a few complaints: resort fees and parking charges on top of the room rate, long check in lines and elevator waits on busy weekends, and uneven upkeep in the older towers. Which tower you are assigned often matters as much as which casino you pick.

The state's own counts show how different the nine are in size: Borgata, Harrah's and Tropicana each have more than 2,300 hotel rooms, while Golden Nugget has about 700. Every casino has a sportsbook, but only Borgata, Harrah's and Tropicana run live poker rooms, so poker players have three choices, two of them in the Marina District.
