Reno, Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada
Reno sits at the eastern foot of the Sierra Nevada, within an hour of Lake Tahoe, and its casinos fall into a few clear groups. Downtown, along Virginia Street near the Truckee River, the Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus are linked by skyways, with smaller places like Club Cal Neva and Siri's a short walk away. The big resort hotels sit outside the core, with the Peppermill and Atlantis on South Virginia Street and the Grand Sierra east of downtown. The rest are neighborhood locals casinos built around cheap meals and slot play, plus roadside stops in Verdi near the California line, in Sun Valley and on US 395 to the north.

How the ranking works. Venues are ordered by their Google rating, weighted by how many people left one: every rating is blended with a neutral 4.0 as if the venue had 200 more reviews at 4.0, so a 4.6 from thousands of reviews ranks above a 5.0 from a dozen. Sponsorship has no effect on the order. Ratings last checked October 2026.

Outside downtown the casinos are spread out, so plan on driving or a ride between them. Nevada's gambling age is 21, and a few locals casinos, Gold Dust West among them, keep anyone under 21 out of their restaurants too. At the big hotels, check the resort fee before booking; it can add a lot to a cheap advertised rate.
