The short version

What visitors say about Boomtown Casino Resort

Boomtown sits off Interstate 80 in Verdi, a few miles inside Nevada west of Reno, and for decades it has been a family stop for people driving in from California. The Fun Quest arcade, an indoor pool and a small gym keep kids busy, though the arcade has its share of broken games. The hotel runs as a Best Western Plus and has been renovated. Guests rate the north tower's rooms above the south tower's, where loud air conditioning and upstairs noise came up.

Dining includes Mel's diner and a steakhouse that gets strong marks for food and service, though one longtime family feels Mel's has slipped. Rooms sit at the end of a long walk through the casino and meeting space. Smoke is the steadiest complaint. Some slot players found the machines very tight after the remodel. Parking is free, but one guest noted a resort fee.

Smoky lobby, it's a casino. Loud. Walk to rooms is very long, through lots of casino areas and restaurants and convention rooms, then very long hallways. Room was okay, but needs refreshing. $19 resort fee is for? The location, halfway between Reno and Truckee was convenient for us. $185 total on a week night and no…

This used to be the best stop on the way back from Sacramento for the wife and I. We would stop order food at Mel's, while we wait for food i would go gamble 100 dollars win enough to pay for lunch and give a amazing tip to the waitress's. Then we would take the kids to the arcade let them run of some energy. But…

However the hotel is not the quality a Best Western PLUS hotel is its barely a Super 8. 1 ply toilet paper , pillows, sheets and mattresses that are…
