    Questions about casinos in Florida

Where are casinos legal in Florida?

Slot machines are legal only at tribal casinos and at eight pari-mutuel sites in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, according to the Florida Gaming Control Commission. Card rooms at licensed pari-mutuel sites around the state deal poker and designated player games, and a casino cruise sails from Port Canaveral. (flgaming.gov)

How old do you have to be to gamble in Florida?

21 to play slot machines at the pari-mutuel slot casinos (Florida Statutes 551.113) and 18 to play in a card room (Florida Statutes 849.086). The tribes set their own ages: Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and Tampa say 21 for slots and table games and 18 for poker. (flsenate.gov, flsenate.gov, casino.hardrock.com)

Is sports betting legal in Florida?

Yes, but only through the Seminole Tribe, under its 2021 compact with the state. The Hard Rock Bet app opened to everyone in Florida on December 5, 2023, and retail sportsbooks opened that week at the Seminole casinos in Hollywood, Coconut Creek, Tampa and Immokalee. The commission warns that a bet placed anywhere else is most likely illegal. (flgaming.gov, mynews13.com)

Which Florida casinos have blackjack and craps?

On land, only the Seminole casinos deal live house banked games such as blackjack, baccarat, craps and roulette. The slot casinos at pari-mutuel sites have slot machines and poker, and card rooms deal poker and designated player games, where a player rather than the house banks the game. Victory Casino Cruises deals table games once the ship is out of Florida waters. (flgaming.gov, semtribe.com)

How many slot machines do Florida's slot casinos have?

The eight slot casinos at pari-mutuel sites averaged 6,850 machines in play in August 2026, from 545 at Gulfstream Park to 1,105 at Harrah's Pompano Beach, according to the commission's monthly slot report. The largest tribal casino, Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, lists more than 5,200 on its own. (flgaming.gov, semtribe.com)

Can you gamble on a cruise from Florida?

Yes, offshore. Victory Casino Cruises sails from Port Canaveral with more than 600 slot machines and 27 table games, and lets players in from 18. The commission says gambling ships cannot offer casino games while they are in state waters. The Port Richey casino boat, Tropical Breeze (formerly SunCruz), closed in September 2024.
