The short version
Built into a hillside above Trinidad, The Heights is a friendly local casino with no hotel, a large bingo hall and a restaurant whose windows get as much praise as anything on the menu. Regulars like the staff, the promotions and low table minimums, and a few slot players think the machines run looser than at other North Coast casinos. Others say they never seem to win here.
It's very much a smokers' casino. Reviewers count ashtrays beside almost every machine, and smoke is the main reason some knock off a star. Service is friendly, but several dinners disappointed. RV travelers can use a lot across the road; a players club member paid about $20 for a stay of up to three nights, though it's a long, uneven walk to the door and the lot has occasionally been closed, so call first. Trinidad's beaches are a short drive away.

My little family of 3 went to The Heights for Superbowl Sunday. We secured our spot in the Firewater Lounge and had a memorable time that we will always cherish. Good food, great raffle prizes, and several small wins on the slots.

First, the cat chilling at the front is awesome. Second it is a very nice place with some great views from out of the restaurant. I will try to add some pictures later. Bingo hall is huge and the people are very friendly. The only reason for not being a five star is that it is a smoking casino.

We are here in our RV - the hospitality is outstanding; we were tired and so grateful for this spot. Free coffee and fountain drinks! We grabbed a pizza from the Sunrise grill; it was great. Nice little friendly haven off the highway.

The restaurant was one of the worst restaurants we have been to so far in California. We stopped in off the road toward Seattle. The service was friendly. But the food was terrible. I order crab cakes and a salad. The cakes tasted like
