The short version

What visitors say about Towers Casino & Card Room

Towers is a small card room on Bank Street in Grass Valley, and the smoke free room matters to several of its fans. Staff learn names quickly, along with drink orders and favorite games, and regulars describe a sociable crowd that still plays tough poker. Poker runs as live games and tournaments, there's a single blackjack table, and beer and wine are served.

The criticism is about execution. A recent tournament player felt the antes rose so fast that luck counted for more than skill, and the same player faulted how dealers pitch cards and push pots. Visitors who expected a full casino were let down by what is, in their words, only a card room. Doors open at 3 p.m., or 11 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and close at midnight.

The dealers don't know how to pitch cards properly, it hurts my wrists just seeing theirs bend with each card dealt. They also don't seem trusted by the pit boss with multiple all in pots... they don't seem to know how to splash a line of chips towards a person to indicate pot ownership for all ins. The tournaments…

One of, if not, the friendliest card rooms I've ever played. Great floor managers and awesome dealers in a very clean, smoke free room. Well run tournaments. Great environment for challenging but friendly play. Loved being there. If you decide try it out, bring your A game, because most the locals are outstanding players.
