Bay Mills sits on the Lake Superior shore at Brimley, west of Sault Ste. Marie, and at the moment it is really two properties joined together. The new addition, pool area included, gets strong reviews for its fresh, modern feel. The original building has musty halls and worn carpet, and guests who landed there felt the price didn't match, even when their room had a fine lake view.
Construction has left gaps. The better restaurant was closed during recent stays, so guests ate every meal at the one spot left open. Staff mostly win praise for being friendly and helpful, though a couple of reviews describe trouble with a security guard. Slot players often call the machines tight. There is a sportsbook and a live poker room, but one card player found the game ran only on Fridays and was hard for visitors to get into.

This hotel/casino has two personalities.
There is an old side that has been around a while. And a brand new side opened in 2026. It’s night and day in terms of appearance. The new side is awesome. Fresh, clean, and modern. The new pool area, spa and sauna are excellent! Not to be missed.
