The short version
M8trix is the flashier of San Jose's two big card rooms, decorated and lively, with a large floor of table games and no slots. A dollar collection comes off every banked hand, as at most Bay Area rooms.
Poker is the weak spot. On weekend nights the list can top 80 names for a handful of tables, and several players gave up after waits of hours, sometimes with seats apparently open. A regular who moved over from Bay 101 likes the cleaner room but wishes there were tournaments.
The bar and Lotus Cafe draw people on their own, with cheap happy hour drinks, prime rib specials and wings that most reviewers like. Food quality and timing swing widely, though, and slow drink service on the floor is the most common complaint, along with cashiers and servers who seem not to care.

M8trix is clean, nice staff, better quality food. Only issue is they don’t have tournaments yet. I…

Had fun playing here and drinks are super cheap during happy hour. Currently $5/ drink so definitely can't complain. Like other places in the bay area, they charge you every hand you want to play.

No. Card rooms in California aren't allowed slots. You'll find poker and table games like baccarat and pai gow instead. For slots you need a tribal casino.
