The short version

What visitors say about Harrah's Northern California

Harrah's Northern California is out on Coal Mine Road near Ione, in the Amador County foothills, and more than one visitor mentions the long drive. At the end of it is a compact, attractive casino, small or medium depending on who's describing it, where the crowd is calm and nobody has to push through the aisles. Slots get nearly all the attention in reviews, and coffee and soft drinks are free at self serve stations.

For food, regulars point to the marketplace, where pizza, wings and an Asian food station keep collecting compliments. The sit down restaurant is less reliable; one couple enjoyed a long dinner there, but others mention slow service and poor cooking. The loudest complaints come from loyal slot players. Many find the machines tight and bonus rounds rare, and higher tier Caesars Rewards members say promotions change without notice and hosts are hard to reach.

This casino is nearly in the middle of nowhere and a bit of a drive to get to, but it's a decent spot for a much quieter crowd. Machines are nice and plentiful, but a bit tight. Service comes by often. Mixed alcoholic drinks are smaller in quantity and not much of a kick. Friendly and low-key crowd.

It's very attractive and clean. It wasn't crowded like some places where you have to squeeze through hoards of people. I really enjoyed myself. We went with another couple who Couldn't stay as long as I wanted. I'm really looking forward to going back soon.

The smallfood market area might be small but it has one of the best pizza and chicken wing ever, you got to try it out 100% and also very friendly staff to security. I have no issue. I love it here. If you want to play money that's on you. I'm here for the food !
