The short version

What visitors say about MotorCity Casino Hotel

MotorCity sits on Grand River Avenue about a mile from downtown, and plenty of its hotel guests are in town for a show. Reviewers walk to nearby venues or ride the hotel shuttle to concerts, though the shuttle keeps its own schedule and can fill up. The front desk earns real warmth in the reviews, even from guests who were unhappy with their rooms.

Upkeep is where it slips. A string of recent reviews describe stained carpet and dusty rooms, while others got spacious, comfortable ones, so it depends on the room you draw. Several guests say complaints about rooms or lost belongings got a slow or unhelpful response. Security enforces house rules firmly, and a few visitors felt handled roughly over drinks and guest policies. One visitor was surprised to have an ID scanned just to walk into the casino. There's a sportsbook; the poker room closed in 2024.

We stayed one night for the RUSH concert and our King room suited us well. Walkable distance to Little Caesars Arena (they have a shuttle to it but it didn't run early enough for our plans). This is a nice, upscale property. The room design is a bit dated, however. For instance, there are no convenient outlets for…

Walking into MotorCity Hotel was a shock, and not in a good way. The photos online are extremely deceiving. What you see advertised is not what you get. The moment we stepped off the elevator, the entire place gave off old Las Vegas vibes—worn, dated, and neglected.

Our first room set the tone.
