The Nugget is the big hotel in downtown Sparks, and it fills up for Hot August Nights and the rib cook off. Fans point to the pool, a large, warm room with lots of windows, a waterfall and a hot tub, along with a cheap arcade and a bingo room with a loyal following. The pan roast at the Oyster Bar draws praise, and valet and front desk staff are thanked by name. Many found their rooms clean and comfortable, though freeway noise carries.

The rooms are also where the trouble is. A good share of reviewers found them tired or poorly cleaned, with stained sheets, stale smells, clogged plumbing and missing towels or washcloths. Housekeeping has knocked despite a privacy sign, the air conditioning struggles on hot nights, and cafe service can be slow. A longtime visitor was sorry to find no buffet and no poker room.

    Nice size rooms, clean. When there was an issue they immediately or at my convenience fixed the problem 100%. View is spectacular from almost anywhere. And the pool is very large and warm.
