I've been here three times, always on a work trip with my partner. I love it here, I really do. Is this the fanciest hotel? No. Do they have the most up-to-date rooms? No. But the staff is awesome, the food is great, the rooms are clean and affordable, and they go out of their way to make sure your stay is…

The short version
What visitors say about Diamond Mountain Casino & Hotel
Up in Susanville, a long and winding drive from the valley, Diamond Mountain is the kind of place work travelers return to every year. They like the staff, the reasonable rates and a grill that turns out a good ribeye on a good night. EV drivers play a few slots while charging in the lot. The rooms are plain and a little dated, and the casino floor feels bigger inside than it looks from the road.
Smoke is the main drawback. Several guests say it drifts from the casino into the lobby and up to the rooms, and smoking is permitted where food is served. Play is cashless, so you'll need a players card before feeding a machine, and first timers say nobody explained that. Longtime visitors regret recent cuts: the pool is closed, free breakfast is gone and rooms lack coffee makers. The steaks have been uneven too.

We stopped here because the Tesla charger was in its parking lot. We liked having a casino during our wait. It was nice, they give you free access to their soda machine while you gamble. Felt a little old and less fancy but it's off the
First, the pool is permanently closed and this was not advertised to me before I booked the room. Second, there is no coffee pot or microwave in the room, just a mini fridge sitting on the floor. One of the beds in my room had no bed frame. It was clear the floor had not been vacuumed by the presence of multiple balls…
Everone here is so helpful and so nice. The food was fantastic. The video blackjack at the bar allows surrender splits double down options. Dinner and a few drinks was under 30 bucks and my Blackjack winnings covered most of that. Locals and travellers at the bar were social and welcoming.
