The short version

What visitors say about Sharkey's Casino

Sharkey's sits on Highway 395 in Gardnerville, and most of its reviews are really about the Jackpot Cafe. The appeal is generous, unfussy food: burgers and a patty melt built on half pound patties, a cowboy steak under onions and gravy, chicken fried steak at breakfast and a weekday albondigas soup. Prices are fair, though a baked potato side costs extra. There is enough on the walls that one visitor compared the room to a museum.

Servers get consistent praise for being quick and friendly. The friction is at the host stand and with management: regulars describe waiting to be seated while staff walked past, being steered to poor tables and, in two cases, being asked to leave the casino. The weekend prime rib has a fan but more critics who found it tough and thin. The few players who mention the slots either hit big or lost steadily.

We went to Sharkeys for breakfast. It is a go-to for us whenever we're in Reno or the surrounding areas. The service is exceptional and the food is very reasonably priced. Just had the Cowboy steak, it's a big 1/2 pound ground beef patty smothered in onions and peppers and gravy, soooo good. I got it with a baked potato, just be aware they'll charge you $2 extra!
