  • Bar with pool tables and good bartenders
  • Relaxed, homey downtown hangout
  • Smoky, dated room with tight slots

The short version

What visitors say about Carson Nugget

The Nugget is downtown Carson City's old guard on North Carson Street, and its fans mostly talk about the bar. Reviewers praise the bartenders and the music, and pool players like the tables and the tournament nights. Regulars call the place relaxed, the kind of spot that feels like coming home. The diner gets credit for big portions at low prices and prime rib served with real mashed potatoes. One reviewer went looking for the Awful Awful burger, a holdover from the old Reno Nugget, and found it decent but no bargain.

Critics are just as specific. The building looks its age, and several visitors say stale smoke hangs over the whole floor. Slot players keep calling the machines tight. Restaurant complaints center on long waits and plates sent out undercooked, overcooked or wrong.

Not even one star, I dont care what anyone says. They have changed the machines. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Service could be better. The restaurants are a hit or miss. Certain guests are taken care of a lot more than others. Machines seem to be pretty tight, but I guess that's part of gambling. Could use a remodel as the place is pretty outdated.
