The Gilpin is a small, quiet casino that has been in Black Hawk a long time, and a sister to the Lodge. Its fans are slot players. One likes that it keeps older games alongside the new ones, including a row of quarter machines and plenty of video poker, and a longtime visitor notes that the blackjack tables are gone. The other reason people come is Lucille's upstairs, which reviewers rank among their favorite meals in town for the price, and valet parking sits right across the street.
Not every diner agrees. Two recent reviews say restaurant service has gone downhill since the old staff left. Slot players complain of tight machines and promotions that seem to favor high rollers. One reviewer with limited mobility found the accessible parking hard to reach and much of the building up stairs.

You can find all the new games here but I prefer the older ones and they have about 10-15 25¢ games as well as about 30 Game Time poker machines too. Good odds and not too crowded.

Really great experience. Very nice employees. The food at Lucille's was way above expectations. It's small and not noisy at all. Valet parking right across the street, so convenient. Again, every employee we interacted with was pleasant and appeared to be happy to be working there.

If you visited their website you know exactly what you’re in for. I brought my elderly mother in law for a few hours and she fit right in.
Excellent staff behind the counter that made me feel incredibly welcome. Games seemed fine as well. I don’t gamble often but my mother in law was very happy.
Also free drinks! We will be back for sure.
