The model assumes Team A wins every rally with the same chance, solved from the match odds. Real matches have serve and rotation effects, so treat the numbers as fair price estimates, not forecasts.

Calculations show hypothetical outcomes from the prices you enter. They do not predict results, and betting always involves risk.

Worked example

A -250 / +200 indoor match has a no vig chance of 68.2% for the favorite. The model finds a rally win chance of 51.8%, which gives 60.4% per set to 25. The favorite wins 3-0 22.0% of the time (fair +354), 3-1 26.2% and 3-2 20.0%.

A small edge per rally becomes a large edge per set and a larger one per match, which is why heavy favorites are priced so short in volleyball.

Common questions

What is set betting in volleyball?

A bet on the exact match score in sets. Indoor matches are best of 5, so the results are 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 either way; beach matches are best of 3 (2-0 or 2-1).

How does the calculator get set chances from match odds?

It removes the margin from the match odds, then finds the chance of winning a single rally that would produce that match chance under volleyball's rules: sets to 25 (beach 21), a deciding set to 15, every set won by 2 points. Every set score follows from that one number.

What does over 4.5 sets mean?

That the match goes to a fifth set, in other words it finishes 3-2 either way.

How accurate is the model?

It assumes every rally is independent and won with the same chance, which ignores serve and rotation effects. It gives consistent fair prices across markets, not a forecast of the match.
