The short version

What visitors say about Bally's Lake Tahoe

Longtime visitors still call it Mont Bleu, and several say it was a better place under that name. The rooms hold up better than the rest of the building: guests mention spacious layouts, large showers and views of the lake or the pines from the upper floors.

Almost everything else draws complaints. Reviewers describe a cigarette smell in the lobby, casino and some rooms, torn or taped carpet, a stained pool and thermostats that do nothing. Calls from the room phone often went unanswered, room service is limited or gone, garage parking carries a nightly charge, and a few guests never saw housekeeping during stays of several nights. One unhappy guest still called the steakhouse excellent.

My husband and I have stayed at Bally's Lake Tahoe many times, and the main reason we keep coming back is because of the incredible people who work there—especially Patrick Teagues.

Called them to tell them about it using personal phone, they didn’t even bother asking which room to fix it. Towels were dirty keep in mind couldn’t contact via phone…

It was better when it was Mont Bleu. Don’t waste your money at Bally’s. The hotel & rooms stink like cigarettes, we had to go buy an anir neutralizer at CVS. Our room had a bloody towel when we checked in. The pool seriously needs to be
