Everything at the STRAT revolves around the tower. Visitors who go up rave about the view after dark, hotel guests get a discount on the trip, and diners at Top of the World rate their dinners highly. On the ground the hotel is older and cheaper than most of the Strip, sitting north of the big resorts. Guests who landed one of the renovated casino tower rooms found them clean and minimal, with air conditioning that worked.

Plenty of others weren't so lucky. Rooms and hallways that stay hot in summer top the complaint list, followed by broken ice machines, phones with no dial tone and housekeeping that never came. Several guests paid extra at the desk for an upgraded or renovated room and regretted it. The pools close early, and more than one visitor found only the smaller one open.
